Tl dr: Chromecast worked fine at relatives house with fairly simple network layout, new network with similar equipment, but dual-NAT'd makes chromecast fail at connecting. but my Chromecast gets stuck on "'Chromecast5621' connecting to network 'Cisco1242'." I havn't had any issues connecting to my Cisco 1242 here, not with any of my android devices or laptops, etc. The WAN comes in on a cable line, goes thru an Asus RT-N16, running dd-wrt, this unit has two wifi networks (one is dd-wrt, the other is "Darkness" - this second one I setup to segregate myself from the rest of the people on the network, but I've since stopped using it due to low signal), this has one subnet applied to it (namely 172.16.1.0/24), this runs into my area and goes to a mikrotik routerboard (RB2011UiAS) which re-NATs the internet to 192.168.88.0/24 (so I'm behind two nats now) behind this I have a Cisco 1242 running WPA2 (same as the network at my relatives), and no interesting features beyond that. In the past I've had consistent problems with the wifi off the central router, so I've setup a small network in my area. The AP is a Cisco 1242.Īt home, I have things a bit more complicated mainly due to sharing the internet with others. a Cable internet connection comes into a Linksys E3000 running dd-wrt, we have one extra wifi AP, running on the same segment, using the same wifi SSID, Passphrase and encryption. I set it up for them so I know exactly what's going on. This means unplugging your connected device from the power source, as well as the router and modem you use to connect to the internet. The networks: At my relatives house, the network is fairly simple. At the top left, tap Add Set up device New device. Follow the steps below to try to fix the issue: Open the Google Home app. I've reset the unit by holding the button for 30 seconds already the only difference that made was to reset the name of the device. If you've lost your Wi-Fi connection or recently changed your Wi-Fi name, Wi-Fi password or service provider, you may need to set up your Chromecast device again. I got home and no matter what I do, I cannot get my Chromecast to connect to my network here. I unplugged the unit and packed it back into its box and returned home last night During this, I tested YouTube, Google Play Music, NetFlix, and Google Play Movies. wifi connected, everyone communicated and we were all happy. ![]() Would love to get this sorted out and get this thing working. I've entered in the correct password, reset the router and unplugged and plugged the chromecast from both the TV and the power outlet for about 5 minutes to no avail. Info: I received this yesterday, and I was pretty excited to see what it could do, I had it shipped to a family member's house since my current living situation isn't exactly great for receiving packages long story short, while I was there, I plugged it into a TV, randomly, and set it up to test it out, everything worked. Whenever I reach the WiFi connection stage, I enter in the WiFi password but it comes up saying it can't connect to it. ![]() My new "Chromecast5621" won't connect to my personal network, any ideas?
